By translating strategic objectives into tangible performance improvements, Clari transforms sales teams into efficient revenue drivers. With a commitment to innovation and collaboration, Clari serves over 170 global enterprises including Zoom, Adobe, Atlassian, Okta, and Medallia. The company envisions its India office as a pivotal hub for development, with ongoing investments to drive innovation across various product areas.

Previously, we successfully partnered with Clari to recruit a VP of Engineering and Site Leader for their India operations. Our demonstrated effectiveness prompted them to engage us once more, this time to find a Senior Director of Engineering for their growing team in India.

Problem Statement

After establishing a strong engineering foundation and teams during its initial two years in India, Clari expanded its capabilities through strategic acquisitions, particularly in Conversational Intelligence (CI). This integration enhances Clari’s Revenue Platform, enabling the analysis of customer and employee conversations to derive AI-driven insights and predict revenue outcomes reliably.

In line with their succession strategy, Clari sought a dynamic, experienced Senior DOE to join their engineering team in India. This leader, the second-most senior position within Clari's India operations, will report directly to the VP of Engineering and Site Leader. The leader will be responsible for overseeing various facets of engineering and product development, emphasizing the creation of large-scale cloud-based systems with a strong commitment to engineering and operational excellence.

Execution & Solution

Our previous collaboration with Clari provided us with valuable insights into their requirements and internal team dynamics. This deep understanding of their organizational DNA enabled us to tailor our search effectively. Clari's objective was to establish a robust leadership layer in India as part of their expansion strategy.

In response to their specific needs and the strategic importance of the role, we identified a candidate with a proven track record in navigating growth phases from 1-10x or 10-100x. We presented a diverse slate of candidates from B2B and B2C backgrounds, among whom Anshul Pandey was selected. With extensive experience at X (formerly Twitter), Uber, Expedia, and Microsoft, Anshul brings over 15 years of expertise in driving product innovation, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and leading high-performance teams.

Using our proprietary Behavioral Metrics Model (BMM), we identified Anshul Pandey’s leadership style as that of a Nurturer, poised to significantly impact the company's trajectory and facilitate a growth journey of 1-10x in India. We successfully completed the hiring process within two and a half months.

Anshul, who was relocating from the US to India, found this opportunity highly compelling. We provided comprehensive consultation and support throughout the salary negotiation process, as Anshul had limited familiarity with Indian compensation practices and the dynamics of working in a pre-IPO company. Our guidance encompassed evaluating his potential impact within the organization and aligning his role and compensation accordingly.

Looking Forward

Anshul was drawn to the challenging role and felt enthusiastic about the impact he could make in the growing ecosystem. The combination of ownership, authority, and extensive cross-functional collaboration, coupled with clear visibility of his future role, presented a highly attractive opportunity for him.

For more information, please reach out to the Marketing Team.

Used by more than 2,000 enterprise customers, Mindtickle’s products help revenue leaders grow revenue by increasing knowledge, understanding ideal sales behaviors, and adapting to change.

Driven by a vision to be a leader in providing holistic solution to revenue productivity encompassing Sales Enablement, (Learning and Coaching Solution), CMS (Content Management Solution), Conversational AI and Revenue Intelligence & Operations; Mindtickle is ranked by G2 as the #2 enterprise software product and the #7 sales products.

Problem Statement

Being a multi-product compound organization, Mindtickle faced significant tech challenges due to the varied timelines and tech stacks of its products. Each product, developed at different points, created a fragmented technological landscape. Additionally, their recent acquisition further complicated integration efforts. Despite sitting on a rich dataset with immense potential to generate actionable insights, the company struggled to harness this data effectively.

To address these issues and build a strong presence in India, they required a Principal Engineer with 15-17 years of experience, the senior-most individual contributor, reporting directly to the Global SVP of Engineering. The tech roadmap for the Principal Engineer centers on launching a groundbreaking product line focused on Revenue Intelligence and Operations. A key objective is to construct the largest sales data warehouse, providing critical insights for all roles within the sales organization.

Despite it being an IC role, the leader will guide a team of 300+ engineers to adopt best practices and build scalable solutions. Additionally, he will oversee the UI redesign of legacy products, ensuring a modern and cohesive user experience. Close collaboration with the Center of Excellence for Machine Learning (CoE ML) will be essential to integrating the latest GenAI technologies into the platform and maintaining our competitive edge in the industry.

Execution & Solution

The client sought a leader with a background at the Google L7 level. Although Mindtickle was in its pre-IPO phase at Series E, they needed someone who could upscale their operations, build products for the sales team, leverage AI, and drive engineering excellence. They were open to candidates with either B2B or B2C experience.

Purple Quarter presented 8-9 candidates, and they selected Gururaj Rao, a senior IC leader from Google. With his extensive experience at Google, Walmart, Amazon, and PayPal, along with his hands-on expertise and problem-solving skills, Gururaj was found to be the ideal fit for Mindtickle.

Despite lacking pre-IPO experience, the opportunity to drive the company with full ownership and authority excited Gururaj. He was eager to contribute to a growing ecosystem with mature leadership and a global presence. Mindtickle, a mid-size startup with enterprise product development potential, was a perfect match. We also provided Gururaj with consultation on ESOP and his growth trajectory at Mindtickle. We successfully closed the role within two months.

Way Forward

At Mindtickle, Gururaj is responsible for building a robust platform that enables seamless cross-product journeys, along implementing a uniform architecture to unify disparate products built over various timelines and acquisitions. With over 25 years of experience, he is all set to build an IC hierarchy in Mindtickle and set new benchmarks for innovation and efficiency.

For more information, please reach out to the Marketing Team.

The visionary leader would steer the company's technological roadmap across diverse domains such as geo-intelligence, geo-fencing, AI & ML, drones, and IoT, including sorters and truck tracking systems.

In addition to leading a team of over 300 professionals, the desired technocrat should demonstrate strategic thinking, possess keen business acumen, and excel in communicating with employees, stakeholders, and customers.

Moreover, the client emphasized that the chosen tech leader should have a background in logistics and supply chain management to grasp the intricacies of the industry, with a preference for someone familiar with India's complex supply chain networks.

Solution & Execution

Recognizing the expectations and significance of the role, we advised the client to pursue a Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO), instead of a CTO, who could offer dynamic expertise. Further, the client sought to establish a strong presence in the Indian market by hiring a qualified India Site Lead. The mandate involved finding a seasoned technocrat who could manage their engineering team, contribute to product development, and be the face of FalconX.

Solution and Execution:

The mandate posed a set of unique challenges. To begin with, the Indian crypto market has often faced scepticism, which makes it challenging to attract dynamic talent.
However, leveraging our extensive global network of leaders and domain expertise, we mapped a leader who can resonate with both the US and India’s fintech and crypto space. Purple Quarter’s Behavioural Metrics Model (BMM) profiled that the best-suited candidate would be a Nurturer who could facilitate the company's 10-100x growth journey.
We identified Rajesh Srivastava — an ex-Microsoft techie, as a suitable prospect for the position. With over 18 years of experience, he has played a vital role in brand building, fund acquiring, and team scaling in his prior stints.
Our assistance continued beyond conducting the leadership search.
